As a software Engineer, I have always resisted joining facebook and other social media platforms due to my deep understanding of the ease with which personal data can be abused. Whilst searching for information on candidates in the forthcoming local elections I notice that facebook pages seem to be the prevalent means of nominees disseminating information about why I should vote for them. Non-members of facebook can only see summaries of the nominees pages, so unless they manage to squeeze the relevant information in to their first sentence I am left in the dark. Given the current scandal over alleged misuse of facebook data to manipulate the electorate by SCL, Cambridge Analytica, Aggregate IQ and Leave.eu. It doesn’t seem right to be encouraging people to sign up to an unnacountable US corporation just to be able to participate in an informed manner in UK politics.

Do the labour candidates have any other online platform on which to publish the information on why they are standing, what they hope to achieve & why I should vote for them?

Best Regards,

Jan Sears

Whether I get to tonight’s East Worthing Labour Party meeting in the Labour Hall depends on whether my car starts (it is covered in snow) and whether the main roads remain clear. I shall review the situation later. I am planning to attend John McDonnell’s Labour Party Economics Conference at Southampton on Saturday 3rd March but even the railway is in upheaval with rail replacement bus service from Chichester to Fratton. I therefore have to get the 06:56 train from Worthing to get to the Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton by the 10am registration for the 11am start. A snowfall could ruin that journey too!

Hello. I have moved to 17 Mendip Crescent, Worthing, BN13 2LT. Should I still be under East Worthing and Shoreham or is there a West Worthing division that I can join?

Dear Comrade,

Just a note to introduce myself as a left wing professional songwriter and to offer my services, should your CLP be planning any fund-raising events in future.

My name is Stephen Foster-Pilkington – I am a Labour Party member, and recently performed at a very well- received benefit gig for Brightlingsea branch of the Labour Party. I’d be delighted to come and play for you too!

My songs are reasons why I don’t vote Tory – set to music!

Here’s what has been said about me:

“He will charm your socks off” Time Out

“A genius” Atilla the Stockbroker

And lastly here’s a sample of my music. It’s a song dedicated to all those who suffer rogue landlords:

Many Thanks for your time.

Best Wishes
