Standing for you in Southlands
I am standing in Southlands to bring politics back to the local community. Not in the council chamber but on the doorstep. To listen, advise and act to improve the lives of all.
I have been in the labour movement for over 30 years. I was an executive member of a housing committee which went through a stock transfer. I am experienced in committee work having been a representative and chair of various community committees over the years. I have also helped lobby parliament on changes to legislation.
This is a very difficult time for everyone. The austerity agenda is having a really negative impact on all and the most vulnerable are suffering the greatest. Housing, environment, health and education are all issues which local people are concerned about.
Things need to and can change. The Labour Party manifesto commits to fair and decent sustainable housing for all, investing in NHS and Education, protecting the environment.
I believe that with my skills and experience and working with you all we can show there is an alternative. Labour councillors offer fresh ideas on housing, open spaces and community needs. Our transparent and energetic policies are aimed at reducing child poverty, avoiding homelessness, eliminating avoidable deaths of the elderly (Adur is a national high spot), improving air quality and planning infrastructure for the next generation.
Let’s make this happen together and bring a better future in Southlands. For the many, not the few!
