Councillor Catherine Arnold
Councillor for St Mary's Ward, Shoreham-by-Sea
Councillor Cat Arnold was elected for St Mary’ Ward in May 2018. She runs her own digital marketing consultancy and has run local grassroots campaigns on Post Office closures and local school provision.
Because she found large sections of the community were not being listened to, primarily those on low-incomes or the more vulnerable, Cat decided to become a voice for those who were not equipped to navigate systems and to stand up for them.
Her priorities include education infrastructure ‘106 contributions’ (which should be spent on the community affected) A259 and A27 issues (using a range of levers to move drivers to other forms of transport) increasing council housing stock, promoting Community Land Trusts and a ensuring larger allocation of social rent instead of ‘affordable’ rent (which often is not).
She sits as a substitute on Planning Committee, on Joint Overview and Strategic Committee, is a member of Joint Council Transport Working Party, is a founder member of Future Adur Schools Team (FAST), Save Our Schools (SoS) and Shoreham Society.
Surgeries are every Wednesday, 12-1.30 pm at Shoreham Community Centre.
