Candidate for Offington ward, Worthing Borough Council
Helen moved to Worthing from Brighton in 2015 and soon became active in the local Labour party. She works at the University of Brighton, with a lifelong career in welfare rights. She is passionate about fair access to all public services, including housing, employment, education and in particular DWP benefits and social care.
Inspired by the growing support in the local party, she welcomes the success of the Labour councillors in Worthing and across the region and actively contributes to local campaigns. As a commuter, Helen understand the need to improve local transport across the rail, bus and cycle network.
Helen says, “I think we need to listen more carefully to local residents and improve the accessibility and visibility of our public consultations. The community should be heard before decisions are made. I support positive, sustainable community-led change rather than local decisions being based on profit and budget alone.”
