Candidate for Buckingham ward, Adur District Council
Matt Bannister works in education supporting young people in a sixth form college. Specialising in Safeguarding, he has extensive experience working with those in need and collaborates closely with local services, parents and carers to negotiate the best possible outcomes for young people.
Passionate about equal rights, Matt believes strongly in equality of opportunity and social mobility. He holds a Post Graduate qualification in Careers Advice and Guidance, has worked in the Youth Service and volunteered locally at the Children and Family Centre in Kingston Bucci.
Matt was particularly concerned to hear about the proposed removal of a huge number of Children and Family Centres and young people’s advice centres and believes that the wake of the pandemic is a time to invest in our support services not to remove them from those who need them most
Matt is determined to be a vocal advocate for the local population helping them to make their preferences heard on issues of local and national importance such as affordable housing, climate change, investment for local jobs and the upkeep of our social housing stock. He has two children under 11 and is a governor at a local primary school.
Matt Bannister is a Shoreham by Sea local resident and has been a Labour party member for over five years
