Stephen Garrard was born in Worthing hospital and has lived in Lancing  for most of his life.

He started his education at South Lancing School, then on to Boundstone School where his two children were also educated.

He has been a fisherman by trade since 1982 and a boat owner from 2000. The majority of his fishing effort has been from Shoreham Port, with brief periods from Grimsby, Portsmouth, Brixham and Gueteria in South Biscay.

Stephen said: “I am hoping, if I become your local councillor, to encourage younger residents and older alike to take up the opportunities that are available in the commercial and leisure marine industries, from beach lifeguard to marine mechanic.

“I think teens and young folk should ber encouraged to take up sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding, outside activities to counter the stress of recent times.”
