Councillor Carol O’Neal
Councillor for Eastbrook ward, Adur District Council
Carol was elected councillor for Eastbrook in May 2021 and re-elected with an increased number of votes in May 2022. Carol believes that everyone has the right to public services regardless of who they are and where they live. She was elected as a councillor for Eastbrook in May last year and says: “It has been my privilege to represent the people of Eastbrook and to advocate for so many local people in personal and practical ways.
Carol has lived in Southwick for twenty years and in Sussex for almost forty years. She has had a long and varied career working in business, finance, health and education. She is an active supporter and campaigner for many local community projects but believes that these must not take the place of the statutory services that are essential to maintain our way of life.
“The sub-standard condition of much of the council’s housing stock, the continued privatisation of community amenities, the outsourcing of all manner of services from refuse collection to pest control, the failure to make adequate provision for a carbon-neutral future. These are issues upon which I will fight to make our local area a better place to live and work.”
“I will continue to fight for Eastbrook’s fair share of council resources. This is vital for our communities. Too many of our elderly and disabled residents are living in unsuitable accommodation, too many of our children are living in circumstances that reduce their life chances. Too many of our fellow citizens are living in poverty.
“It does not have to be this way. Working together, we can ensure that this becomes a safer and happier place to live.”
