Our Labour council is getting things done. Vote Labour on 7 May so we can continue to make progress. - Dave Lovelidge, Labour candidate for Eastbrook ward on 7 May.
Community is so important. As Labour councillors we are here to support and represent our residents; to support our community. - Councillor Robina Baine
Your Labour Adur council is getting things done – turning things around after years of neglect and austerity. We want to see an Adur – Lancing, Sompting, Southwick, Fishersgate, Shoreham – we can all feel proud of. Projects completed, clean and fresh town and village centres, events bringing our community together.
Labour became the Adur council administration after the elections in 2024. We found project after project was bogged down and stalled. We are getting things moving:
- For years the Shoreham flood wall has been unfinished. Work will begin this summer.
- For years the pavilion at Buckingham Park has been neglected. We are inviting businesses to get to work on a replacement, pavilion, cafe and toilets.
- The new £3.8m community football hub at Old Barn Way, Southwick, with the Russell Martin Foundation and supported by funding from the Football Foundation and others, moves ahead. We expect building work to start in July.
- We’ve consulted with residents on improvements to the Lancing village centre and we are taking comments on board and moving forward with that.
- We’re improving and expanding Eastbrook Manor Community Centre with £841,000 from external funding – so more services can be provided for young people.
We’re cleaning up:
- We have a programme of jet-washing town and village centres – in East Street, Shoreham, Lancing, Sompting and Fishersgate.
- Almost 1.5m binloads of waste collected in the past year and 22 tonnes of litter and 167 tonnes of dog waste collected.
- Action has been taken against 145 litterbugs in three months by a new team taking action for us to reduce litter and dog-fouling.
Improvements at Eastbrook community centre will mean more activities for young people there. The shark had a repaint this year too!
We’re supporting community events: More than 30,000 people attended 53 events in Adur open spaces. We introduced markets to Southwick Square and there are more coming this year.
