About the East Worthing and Shoreham Constituency Labour Party

Welcome to East Worthing and Shoreham Constituency Labour Party

Labour has been in government for four short periods over 100 years. However its achievements have revolutionised the lives of the British people. The values Labour stands for today are those which have guided it throughout its existence.
  • Social justice.
  • Building strong and healthy communities.
  • Reward for hard work.
  • Decency and respect.
  • Rights matched by responsibilities.

As a democratic, socialist party we welcome members from all walks of life, and we actively encourage members to have their say and influence policy.

We welcome membership applications from individuals, families, young people, students, workers, unemployed, older people – anyone with an interest in building a better Britain.

In East Worthing and Shoreham CLP we try to create a range of different ways for members to get involved in the life of their local Labour Party.

Meetings and policy development

Labour policies can never stand still - we are always reviewing our policies to meet new social and economic circumstances. All Labour members have the chance to contribute to the development of policy at a local and regional level, through our branches, Constituency party, West Sussex County forum and South East Regional policy forums.

We aim to provide high quality debates and briefings on key policy issue. Recent sessions have included: Developing Co-operative alternatives; Sustainability and Transformation Plans (Who runs our NHS?), the Trade Union Act and what it means for workplace democracy.

Come to our meetings.

Campaigning

Your local Labour party gets involved in community campaigns that represent our values and priorities. We campaign on:

  • Southern Rail and the need for a publicly-owned and democratically- accountable railway service.
  • Fair funding for West Sussex schools and an education system that gives every child the best start in life.
  • More social housing at rents that local people can afford, and an absolute minimum of 30% social housing on all new developments.
  • Defending our NHS and campaigning for social care free at the point of need.
