Becky Allinson is the branch chair of the Labour Party in Adur. A member for the last 8 years, Becky is passionate about equality, justice and the engagement of everyone in policy making. With a long family history of political activism, Becky is involved in local campaigning and is hopeful of being selected to stand as a councillor in Adur.

In her work life, Becky is a policy consultant with 30 years’ experience in science, innovation, research, regional economic development and education. In education she works on issues of widening participation, entrepreneurship and mechanisms for ensuring that all children have access to quality education. In her spare time, she is a governor at a local secondary, Shoreham Academy, having served previously as a primary school governor for 14 years. She is a member of the advisory committee on international development for the Mother’s Union Worldwide and on the board of EURASHE, the European Association for Universities of Applied Science.

 Nigel Jenner is the vice chair of the Branch, and the vice chair of the Local Government Committee. Nigel has been a member of the Labour Party for over 20 years – first as an activist in Brighton and Hove now in Shoreham for the last 3 years. Nigel held similar officer positions in Hove and was a candidate four times, always standing in wards where he either lived or worked. He also campaigned on many community issues, funding for young people and also planning and development.

Nigel worked for over 30 years in local authority youth services, for the last six years as head of service and area manager. He retired from the local authority and now works in the voluntary sector, with Brighton and Hove Albion Football in the Community, Lewes Football Club and Brighton Youth Centre. He is a trustee for Brighton Youth Centre and Xtrax a youth advice centre in Hastings. For the last six years Nigel worked with a project mentoring prisoners on their release from HMP Lewes. He spends his spare time campaigning for the Labour Party and hopes to be selected as a candidate for next year’s council elections.

Adrienne Lowe
is the branch secretary of the Labour Party in Adur. A member for over 40 years, Adrienne is passionate about co-operation, equality, self-help, self-responsibility and the involvement of everyone in policy making. With a long family history of co-operation, Adrienne is also the chair of West Sussex Co-operative Party, the sister party of the Labour Party, and is involved in local campaigning on a series of issues.   She hopes to be selected to stand as a councillor in Adur.

Recently retired, Adrienne was a physics teacher and assistant head for many years working to promote women in science and the advancement of initial teacher training.  She was also an elected member of the Co-operative Group. She chaired the board of South East Co-op for eighty years until its restructuring when she was elected to the National Members Council and chaired the panel that appointed directors.  At a local level, she is chair of the Board of Trustees of a local charity, Adur Voluntary Action, and chairs Adur Woodcraft Folk which manages the Co-op Community Space.

 Hannah Fuhrmann is the youth officer for the Labour Party in Adur. Hannah has been a member of the Labour Party for the last three years and has recently got more involved in local politics. She is passionate about human rights, improving the lives of people in our community and about increasing youth engagement in local and national politics. Hannah is in her second year of studying international politics at university.
