Becky Allinson and Jeremy Gardner were both elected on 2 May

Becky said, “I have always been actively involved in the community, as a governor first at St Nicolas and St Mary’s Primary School and now at Shoreham Academy.

“Standing in this election is an honour for me. My dad, Les Alden, led the Labour councillors in Adur until 2019. I saw the hard work he put into that and the success he had in supporting local residents.”

“He had a passion to make life better for local people, and I share that.”

As a councillor Jeremy has been active in supporting residents and in pushing for action to meet the challenge of climate change. He said: “A Labour council will work with businesses and residents together to improve biodiversity, reduce pollution and protect the environment.”

“For me, one of the biggest issues is that any new developments must bring with them homes local people can afford, green spaces and the infrastructure the community needs.”

As a member ion the council’s planning committee Jeremy has challenged a number of the proposals for new developments and called for more action on providing infrastructure.

Becky has lived in St Mary’s for 19 years with her husband and son and enjoys the community feel of her road. She works in Brighton for a company that advises governments on science, education and the green economy.

Jeremy is a husband, dad and grandad. He lives in Shoreham and was elected a St Mary’s ward councillor in 2021. A former Shoreham Herald reporter he went on the work for the NHS and later as a director of Healthwatch West Sussex.
